ECOS

To start your account, click on the button at the top right of the page labeled "Sign Up"

First, enter the required information and choose login data. Then answer the profile questions so we may know more about you! (please look at my page: Danny Boyer to see how I filled out the info.  I think if we all follow a similar standard it will be easier for people to sift through all the info on each person's page.)

Remember you can always add to your profile info at any time so don't feel like you need to have everything filled out when you first begin!

There is a place to write an outline of lesson plans you have to share if you wish.

There is also a place to include links of websites you like.

I personally think that the "recent activity" section is not needed so I reduced mine to "0" entries so it does not waste space.

I have no idea what the "gifts" are all about, feel free to figure it out or ignore it like me.

There is an extra text box which will not appear to others unless you choose to put something in it.  Do with this what you wish.

Congratulations! You've created your ECOS profile. Now, you must wait for one of the administrators to approve your account request before having a usable account.

Once you account is approved, you will have full access to the sight.

Hints on different aspects:

Tags: Many features such as blogs allow you to create tags for your entry.  Be sure to do this for it will make searching for relevant posts much easier for folks. You will see on the blog page for example it lists all the tags used so far and you can select the posts based on the tags - an easy way to sort through the information you all will be filling the site with!!!

Gifts:  I have no idea yet what these are but as far as we can tell we cannot get rid of this feature.

Blogs:  You may use the blog to post detailed lesson plans, write ups on conferences, or any other thoughts or information you would like to share.  People can access your blog from you page and from the blogs page.

Forum:  Feel free to start a discussion in the forum section.

Photos and video:  you may upload photos and video to the ECOS homepage or to your page.

Messages:  You can send messages to people in the network you want to talk with.

Friending people:  I also do not know what the point of becoming friends with people is (that sounds funny I admit).  I guess you can set some of your info, like photos, to be visible only by friends.  It is my feeling we are all friends but if you want to ask people to confirm that go ahead and invite folks to be your friend!

Your page is for you to customize, and where you may share all your information about lesson plans and other great ideas. You may also check out other peoples pages and see what they have posted. Lastly, feel free to friend/message people (click on their name to go to their page) for ideas or post to the blogs and forums if you have any questions. Enjoy!
